Leaded Stained Glass Panels
Tuition: $205 | Materials: $55
If you’ve taken one of Kristin’s other workshops, you likely learned how to join glass shapes using the copper foil method. In this workshop, Kristin will introduce you to the leaded method, a centuries-old technique that predates copper foil by hundreds of years. More info...
Long before the copper foil method was developed, artisans used lead came to assemble stained glass windows for cathedrals, homes, and public buildings. While copper foil allows for intricate details, the leaded method offers the strength and structural stability needed for larger-scale applications and remains at the heart of traditional stained glass today.
In this focused workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of leaded glass while creating a geometric panel. Instruction covers glass cutting, leading, soldering, and framing, along with an in-depth demonstration of the glazing process and its practical application.
Students will have time to work at a comfortable pace with individual guidance throughout the process, developing a solid understanding of leaded glass construction and the techniques used by stained glass artisans for centuries.
Open to all experience levels. Pants and closed-toe shoes are required. Fume extractors and PPE will be provided in class for use during soldering.
