Essential Eligibility Criteria

The following are physical and mental eligibility criteria for all participants of WildCraft Studio School workshops and excursions.

For All Textile, Craft, Native Art, Studio Art, and Land Based Workshops, you must:

Be age 18 years or older.

Have sufficient vision to be able to see and perceive instructions and demonstrations by a workshop instructor independently or with the assistance of a designated companion.

Be able to perceive and follow both verbal and non-verbal instructions given by instructors independently or with the assistance of a designated companion.

Be able to participate the activities of daily living necessary to participate in a multi-hour workshop, including toileting, independently or with the assistance of a designated companion.

Be able to remain adequately fed, hydrated, and properly manage all personal medications, including dosing and administration, independently or with the assistance of a designated companion.

Have the manual dexterity to manipulate fine, small objects and materials, use scissors, and hold or manipulate a drawing tool independently.

Have sufficient strength in hands and forearm to safely handle tools and equipment that could cause injury if not properly handled.

Be able to participate in a group setting without negatively impacting or jeopardizing the health or safety of the other participants or instructors.

Be able to maintain your own safety in an environment where allergen exposure and cross- contamination may occur.


Additional Specific Criteria for Land Based Workshops. You must:

Be able to hike in an outdoor environment through variable, uneven, off trail, or muddy terrain, carrying a backpack, for a minimum of 5 hours while being wet and/or muddy.

Be able to negotiate/traverse intertidal mud flats, including deep or sinking mud or sand that could create resistance to walking, slippery rocks, and uneven depths of water in tide pools while carrying a 5-gallon bucket and tools weighing 15 lbs.

Be able to maintain your own health in variable or inclement weather and natural conditions to avoid environmental injuries such as heat or cold related illness and sunburn.

Be able to follow both verbal and non-verbal instructions given by instructors in all situations, including during stressful or dangerous situations, and to effectively communicate with instructors and other participants.

The above criteria, if not met, will disqualify a person from participating in activities offered by WildCraft Studio School. The criteria exist for your own safety and that of all workshop participants. None of the criteria are meant to discriminate based on any physical or mental disability, and are applied uniformly to all potential workshop participants, irrespective of the presence or absence of any disability. WildCraft Studio School is committed to making reasonable modifications to any workshop for any persons with a disability, so long as they do not fundamentally alter the nature of the activities offered.
