Weave a Winter Scarf

A winter scarf is an essential in the cold and rainy Pacific Northwest—why not make it your own? Spend a month weaving a bespoke color-and-weave winter scarf using alpaca and wool yarns with Hannah Watson. From warping rigid heddle looms to threading heddles, advancing the warp, and throwing the shuttle, students will work through each step of the weaving process together. The intensive concludes with demonstrations of various finishing techniques—hemstitching, twisting fringe, and trimming the final lengths of each end. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of loom mechanics, and the ideal yarn weights, equipment, and materials for creating worn textiles that add a personal touch to their wardrobe. The finished scarf makes an exceptionally thoughtful gift for oneself or a loved one.
