Visible Mending is more than just a practical way to repair worn and threadbare textiles. This technique draws attention to the act of mending, adds beauty to everyday clothing and celebrates both the skill and intention of the mender. Join Erin in this 3-hour session and learn a beautiful embroidery-style technique useful for patching jeans and other woven textiles. Erin will offer a presentation on mending materials, a hands-on tutorial practicing stitch-styles using a patch, and a demonstration on how to repair specific types of mends, (crotch, threadbare, knees). Erin will be sure to leave time for students’ questions and to assess each participant’s mending project. This hands-on, experiential workshop is a great class for beginners and those with an interest in using mending as both functional technique and creative expression.

Please bring a woven garment or textile you’d like to repair. Have a knitted piece (sweater, socks, hats) in need of repair? Erin’s class on Visible Darning will help you learn to repair knits!
