This class is for keepers and collectors - for those whose bookshelves hold train tickets from youthful European adventures, fragile bits of lace crocheted by a loved one or perfectly pressed flowers from last summer. Students will create distinctive glass panels by layering treasured objects and natural elements between sheet and beveled glass. Pressed flowers, leaves, feathers, lace, vintage photographs, decorative papers, delicate textiles, or small drawings can be transformed into luminous works that honor both memory and craft. Using the copper foil method, students will learn to arrange and prepare their chosen materials, then add beveled glass accents for a polished, light-catching finish.
The class also introduces the copper patina process, which transforms ordinary silver solder lines into warm, bronze-toned details that beautifully enhance each piece. This approach honors the naturalist and collector's impulse to preserve what matters - turning ephemera into heirloom keepsakes that catch the light.
Approachable for all skill levels and perfect as gifts or personal treasures. All tools and materials provided. Students are welcome to bring small, flat items of their own to preserve in glass.
No previous experience necessary. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops.
