Felting: Fabric & Texture
Tuition: $155 | Materials: $25
We’re honored to host Columbian textile artist, Maria Lucia Londoño for this 1-day exploration of surface design, using the ancient technique of felting to create volume, dimension and texture. More info...
This workshop will focus on the basics of felting, as Maria guides students through the process of transforming loose wool fibers into a solid, cohesive piece of fabric. After practicing the foundational techniques of creating a felted base, the class will explore how to create textures, shapes and structures using the modern method of needle felting. Students will be encouraged to make design decisions with their intended applications in mind - decorative pillows, tapestries, art, and fashion details are just some of the many possibilities!
Natural wool and other fibers will be provided. Students will go home with the piece they create in class, as well as their felted base to continue exploring form and texture.
