Fun & Functional Felting
Tuition: $130 | Materials: $25
We’re all for the simple, childlike joy of taking something mundane like a pot holder, and using craft to transform it into something unexpected and funny. More info...

Long-time advocates of Craft (with a capital C), we’ve worked for over a decade to elevate craft practices to the realm of fine art, promoting the importance of traditional knowledge and the hand-made heirloom. And you know what else we love? Handmade humor.
Fiber artist LeBrie Rich is the master of these sort of transformations! Over the years she has re-imagined hundreds of everyday things – from Ritz crackers to remote controls, toilet paper to sushi rolls – using wet and dry felting techniques.
In this 3-hr workshop Le Brie will guide students through the ancient technique of wet felting from start to finish. Beginning with lessons on how to select and arrange wool fibers to create form and pattern, Le Brie will move on to demonstrations on proper felting technique, all the while using simple tools that participants are likely to have at home! Students can choose from a range of fruit designs, with finished pieces functioning as pot-holders, trivets or wallhangings!
