Teacher: Elizabeth Arzani | Dates: Sat-Sun, 07.20-07.21 , 10am-4pm | Location: SE Division Studio
Tuition: $245 | Materials: $25

Join interdisciplinary artist and educator, Elizabeth Arzani, for a two-day workshop that combines formal design elements with exercises in chance and experimentation using collage and monoprinting techniques. More info...

Elizabeth will demonstrate the possibilities of working with reusable Gelli printing plates, which do not require a press, to create a variety of single impressions. Touching on the history of collage and its connection to still life and "the everyday", we will use found and collected materials, transforming items such as mail, packaging, magazines and cardboard, with marks made by our own hands.

This workshop emphasizes starting where you are and repurposing tools and materials in new and unexpected ways. Arzani will demonstrate additive and subtractive techniques for stenciling, layering color, and using processes of printing, cutting, cropping, rotating, and reassembling to arrange abstract compositions. Each participant will leave class with an array of techniques, materials, and at least one finished work of art.

No previous experience necessary. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops.
