In this festive workshop, students will transform simple woven cloth into works of art that are sure to delight guests and become cherished keepsakes. With an option to focus on wintry imagery, this one-day workshop will introduce students to the process of designing a pattern suited for textiles, carving and cutting a linoleum block, and printing on cotton and linen fabric. Weaver and textile designer, Jorie Garcia, will guide students through multiple methods of creating patterns, along with diverse tools to explore the subtle nuance of single-color block print for textiles. Alongside a cotton fabric sampler, recording multiple pattern experiments, students will create a finished set of 4 hand-printed linen napkins.

Linen napkin blanks are sourced from the beloved Portland textiles brand, MADRE. MADRE is committed to a transparent supply chain, offering Oeko-Tex certified, Belgian-grown linen that is woven in a Lithuanian mill that runs on green energy. All of their products are sewn domestically.
