This innovative medium makes precious metal jewelry creation accessible without traditional metalworking equipment or extensive studio space.

This half-day introduction to silver clay techniques will guide students through the creation of personalized pendants, using techniques including shaping, bail construction and element joining. Students will work with specialized tools including molds and rollers, while learning to balance aesthetic appeal with practical wearability.

The session will conclude with kiln firing that transforms clay into solid metal, followed by hand polishing techniques—progressive polishing, patination options, and surface treatments that bring out silver's inherent beauty.

The workshop covers essential material management: keeping silver clay workable, efficient usage strategies, and techniques for reclaiming dried clay. Students will complete at least two finished jewelry pieces (chains not included) while gaining technical proficiency and creative confidence for continued exploration.

No previous experience required, though familiarity with polymer or ceramic clays provides helpful background.
