Stitch a Story
Tuition: $170 | Materials: $25
Discover how simple stitches can transform fabric into a personal work of art. More info...
In Stitching a Story, instructor Debby Weiss guides students as they build a small textile by layering, collaging and embellishing fabrics with a range of hand-stitching techniques.
Students will learn decorative and functional embroidery stitches, including needle weaving — a versatile technique often used for visible mending, repairing worn textiles, and adding rich texture. Along the way, students explore color, composition, and the expressive possibilities of combining fabric and thread to tell a visual story.
This workshop welcomes all skill levels; whether new to stitching or an experienced maker, students leave with new techniques and fresh inspiration for bringing hand stitching into their own creative practice. Each participant completes a unique textile that can stand alone as a small piece of fiber art or be incorporated into another project, such as a garment, quilt, pillow, or bag.
No previous experience necessary. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops.
