Polish papercuts are called "Wycinanki;" to Swiss and Germans they are known as "Scherenschnitte;" to the Japanese it is known as "Mon-kiri." We’re delighted to have accomplished artist, Emily Brown share her approach to this classic art form. In this workshop, students will learn the basics of paper cutting using a drawing of their own making, or a template of Emily's creation. Emily will cover ideal paper types, finding inspiration, composition strategies with an emphasis on positive and negative space, cutting techniques, and bring some of her original pieces to look at. Students will leave with a finished papercut, ready to frame!
