Carolyn Hazel Drake

Carolyn Hazel Drake is a third generation Oregonian from a long line of stitchers. Her sense ofcomposition, color, and pattern were formed at an early age at her mother’s quilt store. She is a mostly self-taught sculptor whose work references language, devotional objects, and domesticity. Her compositions integrate archetypal marks and stitches on a mix of porcelain and natural textiles. In addition to maintaining a studio practice, Carolyn has been a longtime public educator in Language Arts, Visual Arts, and Art History.
