Bonnie Paisley

Bonnie Paisley is an artist and teacher from Portland, Oregon. She uses a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional mediums in her own work including watercolor, oil paint, gouache, acrylic, caulking, wood, insulation, fabric, and frosting to create drawings, paintings, sculptures and stop-motion animations. As a teacher, she is very intuitive and nurturing, with a unique ability to meet students where they are regardless of their skill level. She loves looking at, talking about, and thinking about art and always brings her knowledge of historical and contemporary art to her classes. She has a strong foundation in drawing from life, a love and respect for material and process, but also believes there are no rules when it comes to making art.She holds a BFA from The Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from Portland State University. She has exhibited her work most recently in Portland, upstate New York, and Germany. She is the owner of Paisley Studios, a working art studio in NE Portland where she teaches classes and offers studio memberships for womxn artists.
