Betsy Walton & Carson Ellis

Betsy Walton is a Portland-based artist and illustrator whose work explores imagined landscapes, symbolic forms, and the relationship between inner and outer worlds. Working across painting, drawing, printmaking, and digital media, she creates layered images that balance intuitive discovery with deliberate composition. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and has appeared in projects for clients including Meta Open Arts, The New York Times, and Chronicle Books. She teaches creative practices designed to help artists develop greater trust in their ideas, images, and individual visual language.

Carson Ellis is the author and illustrator of the bestselling picture books Du Iz Tak? and Home. She has illustrated a number of books for kids including The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart, The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper, and Wildwood by her husband, Colin Meloy. Carson is also the illustrator-in-residence for Colin's band, The Decemberists. She lives with her family on a farm outside of Portland.
