Stephanie McCollough

Stephanie McCollough is a designer and multi-disciplinary artist who explores materials such as paper and wool as a way to enter into a co-creative relationship with them and their functional and expressive qualities. Her work in hand spinning, knitting, weaving, and pop-up paper mechanics stems from a curiosity into ways that these seemingly inanimate materials have potential to become animated and full of intention: How can a flat piece of paper become a subtle swooping gesture? How can a formless cloud of wool become a garment that will move with the wearer, suiting their needs for cooling or warmth? Stephanie holds a BA in English Literature from the University of Oregon and a BFA in Communication Design from Pacific Northwest College of Art. She lives and works in Portland, OR with her husband and fluffy cat.
