Lucas Cantoni Jose

I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, into a family that warmly embraced the diverse cultures present in Brazil. This environment instilled in me a deep sense of wonder and curiosity that continues to guide me today. Attending a Waldorf school further nurtured these values, fostering an appreciation for different cultures and a respect for nature.
In São Paulo, I pursued studies in architecture and graphic design, where I was fortunate to learn from incredible professors who encouraged my curiosity and inspired me to explore learning through creative experimentation. Later, I moved to Canada to study printmaking as an undergraduate, where I experienced several formative moments. I built meaningful communities through tattooing and drumming, two practices that deeply shaped my artistic and personal growth. As a tattoo artist, I learned to listen closely and connect creatively with my clients, while the drumming community taught me to appreciate cultural exchange and the many rhythms that life can take.
Currently, I reside in Portland, Oregon, where I earned my MFA in Print Media at PNCA. Here, I began making kites, a practice that embodies my openness to exploration and creative connections.
