Lainey Perry

Lainey (she/her) is a Portland area artist whose practice is anchored in slow-moving textile techniques like natural dyes, weaving, knitting, sewing and quilting. She received her BFA in cross media from Oregon College of Art and Craft in 2019, where she studied textiles alongside photography and ceramics. Mediums like tattooing, drawing, painting, and jewelry-making also get their spotlights in her practice, informing and balancing one another. Her conceptual focus gravitates toward place-based making and material history, mining inspiration from the collection of materials through foraging and other types of treasure hunts. Lainey is a forever student. Her teaching and learning approach celebrates hands-on experimentation and “failures” as fertile grounds for discovery, skill-building and resilience.
