"I have created things all my life. I began sewing on my mother’s Singer treadle machine. I learned beading from my Cayuse maternal great-grandmother. When I retired I declared “I want to be a weaver.” I did not know why I had such a drive to become a weaver until I traveled to my paternal grandmother Karuk tribal homeland for a weaving gathering. There I saw pictures of my grandmother’s elders sitting beside their glorious spruce root baskets."

Ron Cameron has been doing loomwork beading for 30 years. Celeste Whitewolf taught him so he could help her make "Memorial Gifts" for her mother. Over the years he has made belts, necklaces and bracelets, and taught students of all ages. With advanced techniques such as the modification of "traditional" looming boards to include a specific height "bridge" and the use of Excel to plan his designs, his beadwork has developed considerably.
