Carolyn Sweeney is an artist living in Portland, Oregon. She began making her own natural inks and watercolors as a part of her ongoing engagement with the natural world. Through several years of experimentation she developed recipes and techniques specific to locally foraged materials. In the fall of 2020 Carolyn launched Strata Ink releasing a line of hand foraged mineral and botanical inks. She prefers to gather her materials from areas already heavily impacted by human activity such as road cuts and urban neighborhoods. Carolyn has a B.A. in Fine Art from Whitman College and a background in a wide array of textile arts from Oregon College of Art and Craft.
