Swirling patterns, organic shapes and natural formations: marbling offers a playful, no-pressure approach to textile surface design. Before the studio becomes a swirling kaleidoscope of colors and patterns, students will be introduced to how to prepare fabric, mix a vat of methocel-based marbling gel, and share material tips along the way. Students will test colors and patterns on a small scale with fabric swatches before moving forward with a large-scale finished piece. Composition, balance, color, and shape will all be points of experimentation in the marbling process.
No previous experience necessary. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops. All participants must accept the inherent risks of participating in a Studio Workshop and agree to sign a liability waiver.
