Printmaking presents the exciting possibility of transforming an original drawing or design into a template for creating multiples of your artwork.
In this class, artist and educator Elizabeth Arzani will introduce students to the process of relief printing - carving into a block to leave a raised design, which becomes the surface for transferring ink to paper. Students will learn the best practices for relief design, considering positive and negative space, appropriate level of detail, and text and design mirroring. Elizabeth will guide the class through the steps of properly cutting and inking your block, and techniques for printing on paper with and without a press.
Students will walk away with an edition of multiple single-color prints of their own design, and the knowledge needed to keep printing at home!
No previous experience necessary. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops.
