Spend the day learning about mushrooms in the Columbia River Gorge! More info...

Spend a day in the foggy spring forest on the hunt for edible mushrooms! The goal of all WildCraft forages is to locate and learn to identify any mushroom the group discovers, not just the edible mushrooms. Tiffany will help students explore and understand the larger ecosystem that supports the growth of particular fungi, including trees and plants that can be good indicators of specific mushrooms. Tiffany will offer an introduction to the basics of mushroom identification, proper foraging technique, and how to prepare and preserve edible mushrooms.

Though we can’t guarantee you’ll go home with a full basket, we can promise this workshop will give you a new appreciation for wild foraged foods! No previous experience necessary, be prepared for cool weather and muddy trails. Tiffany participated in WildCraft’s 2019 Mycology Teacher Training, guided by Rachel Zoller of Yellow Elanor.

All spring forages will be within a 1.5hr drive of Hood River, OR. The exact meeting location will not be determined until 5 days prior to your forage. Students will be notified of the meeting location by the Monday prior to the workshop date.
