Wood Fired Mugs at East Creek

Teacher: Joe Robinson | Date: Sunday August 27, 10am-4pm | Location: Offsite
Tuition: $160 | Materials: $30

Join Aubrey Sloan and Joe Robinson to make two handbuilt, wood fired mugs! More info...

On August 27, you'll spend a day making your mugs in our beautiful creekside lounge area. In this outdoor classroom equipped with studio tables, chairs, and tools, you'll see demos and get 1-on-1 support in making your own hand built mugs. Your pieces will be fired in East Creek's famous Anagama wood burning kiln firing, in which over 1,000 other pots will also be fired for 5 consecutive days and nights. You can visit during the firing on November 8-12, join the festivities for unloading on November 25, or have your pieces shipped back to you anywhere in the US for $25. Once fired, your mugs will be functional and food (or drink) safe!

Joe is offering options to extend your experience at East Creek, including free camping on the property on Saturday evening, cabin lodging options for an additional charge, and/or make a personal wood fired pizza for $15 pp. For info on additional options, please email Joe directly: joe@eastcreekart.org

About East Creek: East Creek is a community art studio and ceramics retreat center, situated on 20 acres of lush forest. A historic 40-foot wood fired Anagama kiln is a rare feature of this compound. Built in 1983, the kiln is the second of its kind in the US. East Creek is pleased to host guests overnight with space to camp, tiny cabins and a bunkhouse. Joe has been part of the East Creek community for eighteen years, and has owned the property for seven. He has a MFA in Applied Craft + Design from Pacific Northwest College of Art and Oregon College of Art and Craft. For info on lodging and meals, visit https://www.eastcreekart.org/wildcraft
