Join artist and designer Zac Banik, to learn the practice of Drotarstvo, a Slovak wire craft that dates back to the early industrialization of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
In this 3-hour class, Zac will share a piece of his cultural tradition as students practice the techniques of Drotarstvo to create beautiful wire-wrapped coal ornaments. With Zac’s guidance, students will learn basic wire craft skills and come to see how wire can be used as an unconventional form of textile.
Leave with at least one handmade ornament and the knowledge of how to make more!
No previous experience necessary. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops.
