Known either as a decorative landscaping plant, or a fast-growing, invasive vine, English Ivy is being recast as a potentially useful weaving material for folks who are up to the challenge! Notoriously hard to bend and shape, but unusually strong, English Ivy presents both unique challenges and benefits for the adventurous weaver. Celeste will demonstrate two different weaving techniques: plaiting and twining. These techniques are the cornerstones of weaving, applicable to many types of basketry materials. After two days of processing material and strenuous weaving, students will go home with a fairly large basket and the skills to work with other natural weaving materials.
Students are asked to bring a small pocket knife.

No previous experience necessary. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops.
