Textile artist and educator, Hannah Watson shares with us her love of weaving, in this brand new, 2.5-day workshop. Students will learn to warp rigid heddle looms using sturdy cotton/linen yarns, creating the framework for their weaving. Hannah will demonstrate how to layout a woven pattern, considering color and design proportion. Students will spend the majority of class time weaving with natural wool fibers in colors of their choice. Hannah will offer one-on-one guidance, as needed.
Once students have finished weaving their pillow fronts, Hannah will share some special tricks for sewing with handwoven fabric, guiding students through the completion of sewing their pillow covers. Finished pillows will measure 20”x 20”.
While this class is open to all levels, it may be helpful to have experience sewing a straight stitch on a sewing machine. Experienced & speedy weavers may choose to explore tapestry weaving. Down pillow inserts will be provided.
