Visual Note-Taking: Drawing in the Field
Tuition: $350 | Materials: $20
Drawing can be seen as a unique way of collecting information. This workshop led by artist and educator, Elizabeth Arzani, is designed around the concept of a 'field study'. More info...
Students will be researching a variety of subjects in an environment – drawing connections, tracing forms and training their eyes and hands to collaborate, with the goal of observing surroundings and capturing the essence of place in pen and paper. Using contour line drawing and mark making techniques, students will experiment with drawing as a form of translation. The group will take traveling sketchbooks to different site-specific locations to practice on-site recording, responding and visual note-taking. Can lines depict more than physical details? Can they convey a mood? Tell a story? Perhaps express a new way of seeing? Join this unique drawing workshop to find out!
Students will be sent a materials list upon registering. All other supplies will be provided.
