Join us for a day of ‘visible mending’ – the art of repairing fabric in a way that doesn't try to hide the mend, but instead celebrates it as a creative contribution to making a piece of clothing more unique. Sisters Nina & Sonya Montenegro, of The Far Woods, encourage you to bring in your favorite jeans, socks, sweater, or denim jacket, and learn to give new life to your long-loved goods. We will explore a handful of mending techniques, including different kinds of patching and darning. In the second half of class, students will practice these techniques on their own garments. Students will leave class equipped with the basic tools and essential skills to tackle any mending project. Each student also will leave with mending handbook made by The Far Woods! Please bring an item of clothing or favorite textile to mend.

No previous experience necessary. Open to students 16 & up. Please bring your own garments or textiles to mend. All other materials will be provided.
