Surfperch Fishing (August 23) with Henry Stanley
Teacher: Henry Stanley
We’re making fishing easy and rewarding with day-long workshops dedicated to what ODFW calls, “one of Oregon’s most underutilized fisheries.” Surfperch are slim, oval-shaped fish that can reach up to 2 pounds. With over 9 species in the waters off the OR coast, surfperch swim in schools less than 30 ft. from the shore, offering the angler easy and fun access to this abundant fish. Oregon Coast native, Henry Stanley, will guide students through proper rigging, an introduction to a range of bait, a detailed look into fishing regulations, and most importantly, what to do when you feel that tug on your line! Henry will also demonstrate gutting and cleaning techniques, so you can enjoy the freshness of your catch!
This workshop will be held in Hug Point, Oregon, and requires a reasonable level of physical fitness, and the abilty to be outside in potentially inclement weather. Class will run, rain or shine. No previous experience necessary. All equipment supplied by WildCraft, though you are able to bring your own. Open to students 16 & up. Please leave dogs at home.
