Welcome to our first SummerCraft Retreat!

We want to spend more art-time with YOU, our beloved WildCraft students and we want to do it “old WildCraft” style!

SummerCraft is a throwback to our early days when workshops came with a homecooked lunch, an invitation to carpool with a stranger, and a free camping spot in a field by the studio. If you missed that moment in our history, (or want to revisit it!) join us this August at Camp Colton and choose from one of four exceptional craft intensives, enjoy peaceful accommodations nestled within acres of pristine forest and nourishing food, made from scratch, all while deepening your connection to our creative community.

August 4–8 in Colton, Oregon.

Program fees from $1900 per person, including meals, camping, and workshop tuition. Materials fees and upgraded lodging options additional.

Hand-carve an heirloom bench. Explore the bold colors and patterns of Oaxacan textiles. Play with form and scale in stained glass. Stretch your hands and weave a willow basket.

You’ve got 4 days to go deep into creative practice. What will you choose?

  • Traditional Greenwood Bench Making
  • Large-Scale Stained Glass Panels
  • Stake and Strand Willow Basketry
  • Oaxacan Natural Dyes & Zapotec Weaving

We’ll be gathering at Camp Colton

Less than 45 minutes from Portland, Camp Colton offers thoughtfully designed gathering spaces and lodgings, tuck seamlessly into a forested landscape.

Guests are encouraged to explore the numerous trails that navigate the property, take a dip in one of the creeks, or just enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings.

Let’s Talk Food and Lodging!

Whether you’re seeking quiet and privacy, a space to share with a group of friends, or a budget hostel-style option, we’ve got a range of accommodations!

Meals -- First things first! You will not cook a meal or wash a dish for 4 days straight. Moms, this may be enough to get you to register!

Guests will be treated to three wholesome, plant-forward meals per day and an evening treat. Seasonal, farm-fresh, healthy and satisfying, we promise to feed you well. Most dietary restrictions will be easily accommodated. Reach out with questions!

FAQs

Can I take more than one workshop?
Not unless you can be in two places at the same time! All 4 workshops will be hosted simultaneously.

How do I register?
To register, visit the SummerCraft page on our shop. Registration is open until April 29.

What's included in the Program Fee?
This fee covers your workshop tuition, 3 homemade meals per day, afternoon and evening snacks, as well as a facilities fee. Each workshop has a distinct materials fee, which is not included in the Program Fee. On-site lodging is a separate fee, and must be chosen during checkout. Travel to and from the workshop is not included. Packing and shipping finished craft items is also not included.

I’m attending with a group of friends, how do we register?
We recommend that you each register individually for the workshop you’d like to attend. If you’d all like to stay in the same lodging, you’ll want to decide that as quickly as possible! We have a limited number of accommodations that will house groups 3 & up.

After you select the class you would like to take, each member of the group can select a “bed” within the chosen lodging.

Do you have a payment plan?
Yes! We are happy to set up a payment plan for you. The terms of this plan are as follows: Payments will be divided into 4 equal payments, invoiced via Paypal every 30 days, with the first payment made at the time of registration. Once the initial invoice is sent your choice of workshop and lodging will only be held for 24hrs. If after 24hrs no payment has been received, your reservation will be cancelled. Deposits are not refundable or transferable at any point past the 24 hr grace period following registration. Participants who cancel at any point beyond the 24 hr grace period are knowingly forfeiting any money paid via deposit.

How do I sign up for the payment plan?
Please email our team at info@wildcraftstudioschool.com. Let the team know what class and lodging you'd like to choose, and from there, we'll send you the first invoice of 4 via Paypal.

Is there an additional charge if a friend and I share a queen bed?
No. Just have 1 person select the queen bed, and when the other person registers, they can select “Sharing a Queen” for no additional charge. We don’t mind sleeping on the floor!

Is the listed accommodation capacity flexible?
Unfortunately, the capacity for each indoor lodging is firm.

I’d like to stay indoors, but I’m traveling solo. What are my options?
You have a few choices as a solo traveler! Any of the yurts, the Tiny House or the Cottage can all be reserved just for one person. You’re looking at a higher price tag for that choice, but privacy, peace and quiet can sometimes be worth it!

If you are open to staying with folks you haven’t met yet, you are welcome to choose whatever bed you prefer, in any of the lodging options listed and be ready to make new friends!

Tell me more about camping!
Tent camping is included in the cost of the Program Fee. Campers will have access to the shared bathhouse. When you register for your workshop, just select either “tent camping” or “RV camping” and no additional fee will be added. Participants who elect to camp are responsible for bringing, assembling and packing up all their own gear.

I'll be camping, can I bring my dog?
We kindly request that you leave your pets at home.

Can we talk about food?
I have dietary restrictions! After registration, all participants will be sent a form to fill out detailing dietary restrictions, and food allergies. All meals will be buffet-style, allowing guests to select vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options. We will not be able to keep a Kosher kitchen or ensure guests that certain foods haven’t come into contact with nuts, or gluten. If you have a serious food allergy, please reach out to us prior to registration to make sure we’re equipped to accommodate you.

What is your cancellation policy?
We’re not going to lie! We’ve got a strict cancellation policy for this event. The small workshop size + limited number of accommodations in this once-a-year event means that once you book your spot, it is reserved just for you.

Any cancellation, beyond a 24hr grace period following check-out, constitutes a forfeiture of all fees. Credits will not be extended for any reason, including sickness or family emergency. Tuition and lodging can be transferred to a friend, but please note, you as the purchaser are responsible for sorting out the logistics. SummerCraft is a big commitment financially for our little business, and we want to make sure that students understand that the commitment to the experience is reciprocal.
