Spring Mushroom Foray (May 31) with Rachel Zoller

Date: Sunday May 31, 2020
Time: 10am-3pm
Location: Offsite
Teacher: Rachel Zoller
Tuition: $120.00

Spend a day in the fresh, springtime forest on the hunt for spring mushrooms! While one goal is to locate and identify edible mushrooms, we will also encounter a variety of mushrooms and plants—all beautiful and unique with something to teach us about the forest. Mushrooms are the lesser-known product of the forest floor, and though not often in the spotlight, they are actively working as healers and producing delicious edible fruits. We will cover the basics of mushroom identification, proper foraging technique, and how to prepare and preserve your mushrooms. Though we can’t guarantee you’ll go home with a full basket, we can promise this workshop will give you a new appreciation for wild foraged foods!

This workshop is open to all adults 16 yrs & over, who are prepared to hike all day (rain or shine) on uneven terrain, off-trail. This is not a suitable workshop for those with health conditions that may be triggered by hiking, carrying a backpack, or being outside for 5+ hours in variable weather conditions. Finding morels or other edible mushrooms is not guaranteed. A high level of education, however, is guaranteed! Please leave dogs at home. No previous experience necessary. A detailed packing list is included in the confirmation email, and info about our foraging location will be provided 1 week prior to the trip.
