Knives have played a longstanding part in the cultural experience of the far Northern landscapes. Designed with distinctive, minimalist styles, Nordic Knives are known to feature some of the most exceptional all-purpose blades ever crafted. Originally made for practical home use as well as ceremonial, these blades stand as markers for a time past, but not forgotten. In this two-day workshop, students will create a traditional Nordic knife with Jeremy Thomas, owner of Sacha Wilderness Living Tools. Students will learn to shape and fit handles to razor-sharp blades, forming and stitching leather sheaths in a traditional style to ensure the safe-keeping. The end result is an heirloom knife, inspired by Nordic aesthetics and hand-working tradition. Be prepared for a weekend of intensive wood carving and leatherwork!
