Recording Time: Watercolor Painting Intensive with L. Hensens
Time: Tuesdays 6:30-9:30pm
Location: Portland Studio
Teacher: L. Hensens
In this watercolor painting intensive, students will create three watercolor paintings from life: the transition of a single fallen leaf as it undergoes its cycle into decomposition. Students will consider in close observation and in real time, the impermanence of a single leaf’s color and form as it changes over the span of 3 weeks. During our first week we will explore various watercolor techniques, color theory, color mixing, all in conversation with the transition of a leaf’s loss of chlorophyll in autumn. Each following week, we will be painting from observation the leaf in its current state. Once the course is completed, students will bring home three completed watercolor paintings that document the effects of time and natural processes.
No previous experience necessary. Open to students 16 & up.
