Rag Rug Weaving
Tuition: $300 | Materials: $35
Repurposed materials from sheets and clothing will be the basis of students’ exploration in texture, color, and shape-making using tapestry techniques. More info...

Across cultures, rag rugs have been woven from worn-out garments and textiles; a thrifty and utilitarian gesture in times when nothing went to waste. We’re excited to bring that no-waste spirit to this weekend intensive where students will create a rag rug using salvaged materials and learn to weave on a rigid-heddle loom. From sheets to clothing, repurposed materials will be the basis of students’ woven explorations of texture, color, and pattern. Loom and weaving materials will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own salvaged textile materials as well.
