This one-day workshop, led by artist and designer Zena Kanes, offers participants the opportunity to explore the rich tradition of mask-making using paper maché! The workshop focuses on fundamental construction methods, with demonstrations by Zena on surface preparation, building form and methods for expedited drying of the papier-mâché.

After the initial forms are created, Zena will give students instruction on refining and finishing their masks, exploring a variety of painting and decorative techniques. Zena will also provide instruction on sealing and preserving finished pieces for long-term enjoyment, as well as strategies for effective display.

No previous experience necessary. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops.
