We’re pleased to welcome artist and designer Annelie Thurin for a three-hour papercutting workshop filled with color, pattern, and holiday cheer. Annelie’s papercutting work draws inspiration from her native Sweden and the province of Dalarna’s rich folk-art traditions. Her imaginative designs, made from intricate hand-cut paper, embody the spirit of Kurbits painting—a traditional Swedish folk art style known for its flowing floral motifs and decorative patterns—as well as the delicate embroidery found on traditional folk costumes.

Annelie will share her playful yet thoughtful approach to papercutting, encouraging students to explore composition and design using layers of solid and patterned paper. With an emphasis on festive creativity, participants will craft one or more hand-cut 5”x7” greeting cards—perfect for sharing a bit of handmade holiday magic with loved ones.
