The art of marbling is captivating and addictive, offering a thrill every time a paper is peeled off the surface to reveal the design. Skye will guide students through each step of the process, starting with preparation of the carrageenan marbling bath, paper selection and pre-treatment, and paint mixing. Learn how to use a variety of tools to create both swirling contemporary designs as well as complex traditional patterns. Students are encouraged to seek out images from art & nature and bring these to class for color inspiration. Everyone will leave with a stack of their own hand-marbled papers, an instruction booklet with troubleshooting tips, and the confidence to do it all over again at home!
No previous experience necessary. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops. All participants must accept the inherent risks of participating in a Studio Workshop and agree to sign a liability waiver.
