Oregon Coastal NW Native Basketry with Stephanie Craig
Location: Portland Studio
Teacher: Stephanie Craig
In this 2-day workshop, students will learn, start to finish, a style of NW Native basket weaving. Stephanie Craig will lead the group through the processing of Western Red Cedar bark and Coastal Sweetgrass Sedge, preparing these sacred materials for weaving. Students will learn four distinct weaving techniques- plaiting, twining, 3-strand twining, weaving a rim, as well as how to make cordage. By the end of this 2-day workshop, students will have woven a medium-sized basket, and learned all the steps, from bark to basket. Open to beginners.
