Oregon Coastal NW Native Basketry

Stephanie Craig will lead the group through the processing of Western Red Cedar bark and Coastal Sweetgrass Sedge, preparing these sacred materials for weaving. Students will learn four distinct weaving techniques- plaiting, twining, 3-strand twining, weaving a rim, as well as how to make cordage. By the end of this 2-day workshop, students will have woven a medium-sized basket, and learned all the steps, from bark to basket. Open to beginners.

No previous experience necessary. This workshop is open to anyone 18 years old & over who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria for Studio Workshops.
