Mt. Hood Fall Mushroom Forage (Oct 10) with Tiffany Garner
Teacher: Tiffany Garner
Spend a day in the foggy fall forest on the hunt for edible mushrooms! While one goal is to locate and identify edible mushrooms, we will also encounter a variety of mushrooms and plants—all beautiful and unique with something to teach us about the forest. We will cover the basics of mushroom identification, proper foraging technique, and how to prepare and preserve your mushrooms. Though we can’t guarantee you’ll go home with a full basket, we can promise this workshop will give you a new appreciation for wild foraged foods! No previous experience necessary, be prepared for cool weather and muddy trails. Tiffany participated in WildCraft’s 2019 Mycology Teacher Training, guided by Rachel Zoller of Yellow Elanor.
This workshop is open to all adults 16 yrs & over, who are prepared to hike all day (rain or shine) on uneven terrain, off-trail. This is not a suitable workshop for those with health conditions that may be triggered by hiking, carrying a backpack, or being outside for 5+ hours in variable weather conditions. Finding morels or other edible mushrooms is not guaranteed. A high level of education, however, is guaranteed! Please leave dogs at home. No previous experience necessary. A detailed packing list is included in the confirmation email, and info about our foraging location will be provided 1 week prior to the trip.
Please take a look at our updated cancellation policy.
