Mt. Hood Mushroom Hunt (May 17) with Tiffany Garner
Each landscape has its own personality: from the feeling of the forest floor to the surrounding species of trees, plants, and fungi. This spring forage takes advantage of the unique environment of Mt. Hood to provide a lively introduction to mushroom hunting, complete with lessons on the trees, plants and other fungi that can serve as indicators of edible mushrooms like morels and porcini. As with all our mushroom forages, we can never guarantee a full basket or even one edible! What we can guarantee is a meaningful learning experience and the opportunity to improve your identification skills.
This is an off-site workshop, meeting on Mt. Hood, Oregon.
This workshop is open to all adults 16yrs & over, who are prepared to hike all day (rain or shine) on uneven terrain, off-trail. This is not a suitable workshop for those with health conditions that may be triggered by hiking, carrying a backpack, or being outside for 5+ hours in variable weather conditions. Finding morels or other edible mushrooms is not guaranteed. A high level of education, however, is guaranteed! Please leave dogs at home. No previous experience necessary.
