Introduction to Monotype Printing with Katherine McDowell
Location: Portland Studio
Teacher: Katherine McDowell
This workshop focuses on the playful printmaking practice of making monotypes. Using environmentally-friendly, water-based inks of many colors, artist Katherine McDowell will guide students through experimentations in abstract image-making. Texture, shape, color and pattern: elements students will explore in this 2-day workshop. Using simple tools and materials such as ink, plexiglass plates and a small hand-cranked press, students will experiment with numerous compositions on paper. Monotypes are an expressive way to make abstract painterly prints: fun for the beginner and advanced printmaker alike.
