Teacher: Carolyn Sweeney | Date: Sun, 03.02 , 10am-4pm | Location: SE Division Studio
Tuition: $165 | Materials: $35

For the artist who’s obsessed with process, materials and customization: why are you still buying your art supplies from a store when you can make them at home! More info...

Professional artist and natural color enthusiast, Carolyn Sweeney brings us a suite of classes this season focused on hand-making art materials! In addition to workshops on homemade charcoal and mineral pigment paints, Carolyn is pumping up the pigment and offering a class on making vibrant, chalk pastels!

In this class students will work with safe, non-toxic pigments to make soft pastels in a full spectrum of colors. Working from time-honored recipes, Carolyn will demonstrate how to use different natural binders, powdered pigments and fixatives. Students will use hand tools to mix the pigments and binders into the perfect consistency, hand-shaping the mixtures into drawing sticks. Each student will leave with their own set of handmade soft pastels, as well as the knowledge to keep building their own palette of soft pastels!
