In this workshop, artist and natural pigment expert, Carolyn Sweeney will demonstrate how to create highly pigmented, artist-grade crayons using natural pigments and waxes. Students will spend time experimenting with sample crayons created with different waxes and pigments, with textures that can range from soft and buttery like an oil pastel to firm and crisp for sharp lines.
Each student will explore the medium and materials, working to create the perfect blend for their artistic needs and interests. Students will make their own sets of crayons using natural earth pigments along with indigo and charcoal to create a wide variety of colors.
