Join Joe Robinson and the East Creek crew for a 2-part workshop at East Creek, starting with a weekend of studio-making time with instruction in September and concluding with a guided, 1 day loading and 48 hour firing of East Creek's Catenary Arch wood burning kiln in October.

Start with a weekend in the studio with Joe Robinson making pieces for the firing and learning about the wood firing processes and kilns. Wood fired pots rely on the flames to produce the color and glass on their surface. In this workshop you'll receive specialized instruction and materials to make pieces specifically for wood firing. Students will have ample time to create work, with unfettered access to East Creek's extensive studio equipment, including potters wheels, slab roller, hand tools, and more. Students will receive everything they need to make work for the wood-fired kiln, including 25 lbs of clay and materials to glaze. Additional materials are available for an extra charge. Beginners and experienced students are both welcome. All required instruction and guidance will be provided by the East Creek crew.  At the end of this weekend session, students will leave their pieces at East Creek to be prepped for the October firing.

During the loading and firing of the kiln, October 21-23, students are welcome to participate, feeding and stoking the kiln, or come and go as they please. On Saturday night, the group will share an evening meal, menu TBD.

Folks are welcome to stay in nearby Willamina, or tent/car/rv camp at East Creek.
