Tuition: $170 | Materials: $15
Join apparel designer and expert stitcher Ellie Rivkin for a one-day workshop focused on building fundamental skills of machine sewing. More info...

Using Ellie’s original pattern to create unique totepacks - bags that combine the utility of a tote with the convenience of a backpack - this workshop is intended for beginner and intermediate sewists to expand their skill set of construction techniques while making a versatile, everyday totepack.
Ellie will guide students step-by-step through reading a sewing pattern, how to choose proper fabric and notions, best practices for fabric cutting, and selecting appropriate stitch types. With an emphasis on quality craftsmanship, students will practice stitching neat lines, attaching handles, adding pockets, and installing a zipper and bias binding. Leave class with a finished totepack and the knowledge to approach your next sewing project with confidence!
This class is open to confident beginner or intermediate level sewists. Students should know to thread their own machines and sew a straight line prior to class. Students are required to bring their own sewing machine to class.
