WildCraft is pleased to host artist Melissa Monroe for a 2-day intensive focused on the craft of machine tufting! A tufting machine enables the maker to work at scale, quickly creating colorful, textural rugs and wall hangings in pictorial or abstract designs. Melissa will guide the group through the fundamentals of using a loop tufting machine, with a focus on design, sharing her approach to creating imagery which is intuitive and experimental. This 2-day session will cover mapping a design, proper tufting technique, sourcing supplies and finishing options.

Students will be provided with all materials, tools and knowledge necessary to create a 2ft x2ft tufted rug, including tufting frame, 100% wool rug yarn, cloth, loop pile machine, and scissors. Loop machines will be available to each student to use for their project and cut pile machines will be demonstrated.  Bring a specific design, or work in an intuitive, experimental way!
