The Language of Tea with Tyler Peterson
Location: Portland Studio
Teacher: Tyler Peterson
After water, tea is the most consumed beverage in the world. How did these plants grow from humble beginnings to being so integral to the daily lives of billions of people? We’ll take a look into the often mythical past of tea to explore their many origins, and how they've now found their way to the shelves of your cupboard. Words like cultivar, terroir, retronasal olfaction, pu’erh, (all part of the extensive language of tea) will be discussed. Tyler will share samplings of various tea infusions, both common and rare, as we sip our way around the globe. Students will each leave with a selection of teas to take home, and a fresh awareness of this herbal artform.
Open to adults 16 & up.
