Painting in oils can feel intimidating, but oil paint is much more beginner-friendly than you might expect! This four week intensive course teaches a gentler, less toxic approach to oil painting that is free of turpenoids and other paint thinners, and kinder to your skin, your lungs, and your planet. Cleanup is easier too!

Guided by artist Rachel Warkentin, Learn how to make an underpainting “sketch,” to mix the colors you see from the paints you have, and to make marks confidently. Students will finish this course with a solid foundation in oil painting, three to four small studies, and one finished painting, based on their individualized goals. Whether you’re drawn to abstract or representational work, this is a great place to start!

Students will be sent a materials list for oil paints and paint brushes upon registering. All other materials will be supplied.
